Why do right wing Christians whine that they are being persecuted?

  • They claim that liberals attack them, when it is a fact that the right wingers are the one's calling the liberals evil. Are they really this blind and full of hate? I thought Christ was tolerant and open to all people's, but if you follow right wingers logic, he is only tolerant until he sends those who disagree with right wingers to hell. Are they really this naive and ignorant? I really wish they would grow up. They claim that liberals make abusive remarks and then when someone calls them on their own abuses they suddenly don't want to take responsibility for their own actions.

  • Only liberals whine, girlie.

    You're doing it right now.

  • Who cares every one has problems its just a matter of what problems they wish to make more present.

  • Not taking a side here but reading through the answers I see lots of attacks that are not based in logic on cons and Christians. Looks like a lot of bitterness and stone throwing.

Who really beleives that ANYONE including Christians want to nuke anyone ?

    Jenny makes alot of sense.

  • they have a persecution complex. subconsciously it makes it easier for them to do the things they do guilt free- 'if we weren't being abused, we wouldn't be so mean!'

no one is abusing them or persecuting them. they aren't the bosses of their nation. if they want to be or want a nation 'under god' (so to speak) they can go form their own little theocracy somewhere else. some people have reacted with hostility toward them, but they ahve brought it on themselves by being rude to people, trying to dismantle seperation between chruch and state / freedom of religion, and calling those who disagree with them names.

I do feel for those who aren't mean, ignornant, cruel, or disrespectful. they have had their religion given a bad name despite their efforts to be christ-like (forgiving, nonjudgmental, ect).

I read a very interesting article. the religion writing in the Chicago Suntimes did a review/interview of a book about atheism. she is an evangelical christian. the author and her found themselves talking about hate-mail- both were receiving it from the same group; fanatical/religious right christians.
they exchanged quotes from said mail. (some according to the columist couldn't be written in the paper).

  • Agree,,right wingers are very hateful and hide behind their religion and use it as an excuse to attack people who donā ™t believe in their ideals. If the Conservatives showed a little more tolerance Iā ™d be inclined to see things from their perspective,,and some right wing ideologies such as their concept of personal responsibility appeal to me but their ⠜holier than thouā attitude turns me off.

  • because anything other than a theocracy is considered "persecution" according to them.

  • I agree.

If they weren't so busy telling everyone how to live their lives, they might realise that is the reason why many people dislike them.

  • Both sides have people who "persecute" the other side, and both sides have the right to whine about it.

  • Agreed.

No one knows how to hate like a neo-con. They talk about preserving God through school prayer while advocating nuking entire nations into the stone age.

They also seemed to have missed that passage about the love of money.

  • I'm a Christian myself, and sadly I used to buy into that victim mentality myself. But the way the religous right and the neocons smeared John McCain in 2000 forced to me to take an honest look and reevaluate the situation. I agree that many of the attacks that the Christian right receive are indeed brought on by their own antagonistic attiude towards anyone who disagrees with them politically. They call liberals all sorts of names and outright bash them (Watch any episode of the 700 Club), yet cry victim when the liberals react to that.

    .

  • It makes them feel closer to Jesus sharing persecution? I will never understand the so-called christians on here. For that matter I will never understand organized religion and especially the way it is going today. Zealots is the word that usually comes to mind. Some are just as insane as the people we are fighting in the middle-east who spout their religious hatred in the name of Allah. What god rewards people for killing innocent people, yet it has been done for centuries in his name. Makes me want to puke.

  • I think the right wing Christians and Liberals have found common ground; they are all whiners.

I shall persecute whiners till the day I die. You're all estrogen poisoned non-entities. I wish you much suffering.

  • who cares what they say

  • They want it "both ways;" meaning that on one hand, they consider themselves the "Moral Majority," and yet on the other hand, they like to portray themselves as being the underdog and being persecuted. Ya can't have both; choose one.

But then, for many, "persecution" is confirmation of their fervency.

  • Did something happen today - either to you personally or in the media - that would spark this question? Because this question just seems like a complete generalization of both "right-wingers" and of "liberals" and doesn't seem to be a question with any value - more of just a show of your hatred for right-wing Christians. I find that people are fixated on generalizations like this, to the point that no matter whether it is true or not, it will always be true in your mind...

  • well... the problem is they think that someone voicing their opinion about them is "persecution"...

which perhaps, in the most mild way... it could be....

but it's a bit of a stretch and every party and group is "persecuted" in some way, that way... with the Christians doing their fair share of it...

it's just like when Republicans complain about the "liberals censoring" them... when it's only someone voicing their opinion about them...

censorship and persecution is quite a bit different than stating your opinion to most people...

  • Because other people disagree with them...and alot of them don't like it

  • They are really that blind and full of hate, as you say.

But you should distinguish between the many decent conservative Christians and the "religious right" The latter are not Christian--at least nothing they do is in accord with what Christ taught. But they are right about one thing--they are beingattacked--by the many decent people, liberal and conservative, Christian and non-Christian alike--who, like me--are sick and tired of their hate, racism, bigotry, contempt for the Constitution, and intolerance of anyone who dares to disagree with them.

They brought this on themselves. And the attacks will stop when--and if--they actually start acting like Christians.

  • Because the prevailing opinion in the US is religion is a subject which is taboo. Rarely are they criticized for their profound double standards, and their lack of ability to do anything but criticize others without any rational basis.

When they are criticized, they react with disbelief that someone could be so intolerant of christians. Because they believe this is a "christian nation" - they also take it as anti-americanism.

I for one think they shouldn't get a free pass anymore. If they want to push their beliefs into my personal space by legislating, they legitimately should be criticized.

  • Even better who cares what lltrix says

  • Its part of a design to amass more and more
    -money
    -power
    -pity
    -cover for transgrassions

  • They thought they could put themselves up on a pedestal and rule over everyone with fear and hate tactics. That didn't work for mind control, so that's where the abusive behaviors came in. The cons are like little children throwing tantrums kicking and screaming when their own mistakes become crystal clear.

  • I have not heard any whining as you suggest. I certainly have not seen any claiming people will go to hell if they disagree with them. Sometimes liberals do make abusive remarks, but I have not heard any strict Christian making them. Are you trying to say that everybody on the right is a strict Christian? I think you maybe lumping the right all into one category of behavior when in truth there is a wide variety. I can tell the difference, but maybe you can't.

  • The problem, is that you're generalizing. Not all conservatives are 'blind and full of hate', no more than all liberals are 'evil.'

Your question is full of hate and anger, the same stuff you accuse the conservatives of peddling. Instead of being seen as just another liberal idiot, why don't you work on bettering your attitude and image?

When you do that, then you promote your beliefs and party instead of belittling them. You can't make a difference by calling people names and trying to make them mad.

Evaluate your purpose here. Is it to incite anger and resentment, or to better your world? To encourage others to see things as you see them?

Take responsibility for YOUR OWN actions and make an effort to get your point across in an effective manner.

  • I don't know. You wouldn't think whining about it would be thier style. That's more a lefty thing.

They /are/ being persecuted, of course. Not like they were when the Romans were feeding them to lions, but it's happening.

Keep in mind that wrongs aren't a one-way thing. Those who are wronged can commit wrongs themselves. I know it's hard for the Liberal mind to grasp that concept, but it really is true. Once you realize that, you can go on hating the Religious Riech in spite of thier tenuous victim status - you won't need to try to debunk thier claims of persecution, you can just persecute them with a clear conscience.

  • They're just mad becuase they want a theocracy and our constitution doesn't allow it.

  • Why do liberals whine about the President?

So liberals don't attack religion? Funny.
