I've had a cold the past few days. My nose has been slightly stuffed but draining and I've been blowing my nose regularly...So today I remembered I have a Neti Pot (that came with the saline powder packets) and I decided to use it. I used it twice today. First time one nostril was too blocked to get the fluid through but the other felt clear...Then the second time today, I got the fluid through both and felt clear for about an hour or two...Tonight though, my nasal passages are MARKEDLY worse...Remember, I haven;t been stuffed up at all. Now I am TOTALLY stuffed up. Blowing my nose non-stop with alot of mucus. I can barely breathe. This can't be good. If someone says that means it's getting better I'd have to disagree. I can feel my sinuses inflamed now. So what gives with this neti pot? I used the packets with lukewarm water as directed on the packets.
i would use the neti pot again...it was/is bc of the cold...if anything the neti pot should really be helping ,,,,,use it for a while....a few times on each nostril
Iam sure the neti pot did not make your cold worse the neti pot may have had no affect and your cold just got worse on its own

I think that you should o see a doctor you have a sinus cold I have one to so you might want to try nasonex
Strange, I've never had this kind of reaction. You used distilled water? Because tap water CAN make sinuses worse due to all the chemicals.
Hopefully you did sterilize the netty pot before using it right? I have had sinus surgery and post surgery I was in need of the cortizone found in nasal cort. To reduce the swelling in addition to the netty pot, I was rinsing 3 times a day to keep the pockets in the sinuses clean. At first it is painful eventually the benefits outway the pain. keep it up. keep it clean
